What Jobs Can Deaf People Do? #deafawareness #shorts
As you can see, deaf people like myself can do just about any job, and I wish I could list them all in one reel!
However, many barriers remain in place that has led qualified and talented deaf individuals being passed over for hearing candidates. Why? There are so many misconceptions that leads employers to underestimate the capabilities we as deaf people can bring to the table. Even well-meaning employers have overlooked qualified deaf candidates due to being unfamiliar or being uncomfortable interacting with a deaf peer.
Thankfully, there are wonderful organizations working together with companies to help break down barriers not just for deaf people, but for anyone within the disability community. We still have a long way to go, but it takes all of us to remove the misconceptions that has created far more challenges than there needs to be .
