This Robotic Mouth Teaches the Deaf to Speak Clearly!🗣️🤖#shorts#engineering

This robot doesn’t just talk — it learns to talk and sing like a baby using real vocal cords, a nasal cavity, and a tongue-like structure. Built by researchers led by Sawada, this robotic human mouth mimics how babies learn to speak: by listening to itself, adjusting, and trying again. This process, called auditory feedback learning, helps the robot sound more and more human.

But here’s the real breakthrough — this robot is now being used to help people with hearing loss learn to speak clearly. Since many hearing-impaired individuals can’t hear their own voice, they struggle to correct pronunciation. The robot listens to their voice, shows real-time feedback using Self-Organizing Maps (SOM), and demonstrates mouth movements to guide them visually.

The result? Clearer speech, better understanding, and a life-changing communication tool. This is where biology, AI, and robotics meet to create real-world impact.
