Little bit of an older video so idk if you’ll see this, but I was surprised when I saw Java’s harness because I have the SAME one for my dog! Same color and everything, great harness. Java is very cute, she looks great in it 😊❤
@Micats.19
the dog thing…real cute until you have a small baby and the dog starts trying to chase hands……
@ladycollectingmemories
I appreciate leaning the signs independently. However, a convo irl would be really helpful.
@isolated.quality
Java thinks each time she gets in the car that Ryan will let her learn to drive!

I have a question. When you're hearing, you focus on the other person's face when someone says something… when you communicate in ALS, sometimes my eyes don't know how to perceive the sign language and the face at the same time. I then alternately look at the face and the hands. is this only a matter of practice?
Does a deaf person concentrate on both? Hand with face..or only the hand the face and the hands or mostly just the hands? I notice that my eyes are constantly changing, but I can't really see the whole picture. But what I also notice is that I concentrate more on the non-verbal signals than is the case with someone who speaks with a voice (sorry if my english is not perfect)

You should sign and ask if your voice is perceptible in their heads
@JG-ii6ct
My doggy also loved cameras! She was also a pit bull mix. Such a sweety, I bet Java is such a sweety too 😊 but animals are smart, don’t underestimate them!!
This might get a little off topic, but it is kind of funny, in the Bible God often says that animals are doing better than we are lol. He tells us to look to animals to learn, in creation we can see God’s nature, not just how to make airplanes and honey etc lol, but spiritually too. Have you ever thought about how animals don’t sin? Do you ever see them judging each other and causing war? That’s why man needs to be saved, since sin entered the world through man 😮
@serendipitysisters84
You guys are so cool!!! I enjoyed going on errands with you guys 😊
@serendipitysisters84
That’s so interesting how some people don’t talk. In the Bible there’s those who don’t walk, can’t see, can’t hear, but also probably those who didn’t talk as well. It’s actually very Biblical, because all of these things in the Bible have figurative meanings. We need eyes to see, movement to live, ears to hear, and a voice to speak; of course not literally haha. We still gain a lot from these videos even with no voice!!!
If you have no idea what I am talking about, try to learning about the parables in the Bible. They are extremely interesting!!! You have to find someone who can teach you though. Maybe one day you guys will teach us things like that through these videos! ❤
@serendipitysisters84
Omg….Java knows sign language! I love it! 🥰🤟🏻
@supersparkley123
You should buy a dog seat belt, that way, java can't jump into the front seat.
@katherinegrice1801
your sign improves so much with your voice off! so cool to see
@sierraschell2680
basically a whole asmr show

I know this is 3 years later but for anyone like me just discovering these videos, how do you feel about CC in general? I am 100% hearing but most times have subtitles on youtube bc I like it. I found this video sooooo calming. I could just read the subtitles like usual but without the noise.
I find it so comforting to see facial expressions. Being autistic I misunderstand people quite a bit and it feels so much clearer to have someone being more “obvious” about their emotions. It’s so refreshing haha
Question for Ryan: you mentioned in another video about wedding planning you prefer reading lips because it’s easier for you and more “real time”.
Is this just an interpretation-lag type situation? Also, would love to hear how you communicate at home with your family? Is it a mix or sign or lip reading? Interesting hearing about your lives, very cool ❤ thanks for sharing
@lauras6300
SAME. simcom is so hard on my brain sometimes. I see the difference in my signing skiils when I sign alone with voice off.
@ThePrieto10
The dog clearly loves your boyfriend even if he’s deaf. It seems like the dog has become Ryan’s support when he can’t hear doors, or strangers walking by. I admire the dog for this, because when you’re not around the dog can help more.

I yelled "They said VOICES OFF SIS" at your dog. In all seriousness thank you for this.
@HarbingerOfGay
I'm learning so much already and i just found your channel. i didnt know to sign and talk vs only signing is different. I am hearing and i want to learn sign. but im nervous that my enunciating isnt good enough. i already struggle to enunciate words when actually speaking so i just worry that with only signing, ill struggle even more to enunciate. i also have a hard time with facial expressions i thing. could either of these things truly get in the way?
@run2.thefather
You guys are so likeable. Thanks for sharing a bit about ASL life.
@TamieTaylor
I am new to ASL and I really appreciated this video.. as trival as this might be one of my favorite parts is where he is chewing is food with his mouth closed and still carrying on the conversation.. I don't know why but I really enjoyed that part

sign language is actually such an amazing language. the fact that you can communicate without your voice. I find it unfair how ASL isnt taught in many schools because it seems important to be able to communicate with those who are deaf. I want to soon find someone who is deaf so I can have an actual conversation!
@stvrxx
This was such a good introductory video for you two. The first one I have seen because it was just recommended to me, a few minutes ago. And now every minute of the opening made me really fall in love with you, both as videographers and the way you made sign language seem like something everyone should know. You both have such nice personalities coming through, and I thought it was great how the boyfriend communicated as you were signing and speaking. I could see you both connected to each other constantly. It took me less than two minutes and I decided to subscribe!
Edit: I've continued watching without voice, and this is so much fun. I see something about orders for sweatshirts I think, and now I want to go look at those.
@TheRealCoryKent
It would be super cool if you guys could teach us a few signs with each video. Just a thought.
We can't see your hands while we read the captions so some lessons would be very helpful.
@JLFamilySong
Never married
@evaparker6036
I gave up speaking while trying to communicate in ASL – not as much because I understood that the syntax and dialect are completely different – but simply because it was way too hard. Speech flows through my hands more fluidly when I don't speak with my mouth. I'm newer to sign, so it took a while for me to realize that there are differences in communicating ideas in each of the two languages… Fortunately, my deaf friends have been super understanding and patient with me!
@TVHouseHistorian
zero lip reading ability. I'm pretty sure you just move your mouth to show that you're talking, you don't put any word forming into it for lip reading folks.
@boredom120
I am tutoring someone in ASL, he’s very good at ASL, but he wants to learn how to talk properly with deaf people. He has deaf in laws and family reunion is coming up in December. Can you help me think of a example conversations with deaf? Thanks.
@ChristinaMertens
I wanted to see this for a long time! You always look like you're thinking and I wanted to see you acting naturally, it'd be great to have more videos like these
