I squealed when I saw it was Chrissy and Molly together! I hope they had fun that day. What joyous, stylish, gorgeous, and kind women. I enjoy watching and learning from both of them.
Deaf people – especially culturally Deaf people – are keenly aware of blindness. The are several reasons for this but one key reason is that some common causes of deafness can directly cause or lead to blindness as well. So, blind people are actually over-represented in Deaf circles, compared to the general population.
It makes sense! Molly, something fun you didn't know about me is, I know a lot of signing. I'd say my skills are more intermediate than advanced. And ASL can be very confusing at times. I know little bits and pieces of it. But I know a lot more about it than I do the ASL itself.
I used to work at deaf/blind UK. They're a charity that supports people who are both deaf and blind. I think it's important to point out that there were people who lived in sheltered accommodation, mostly elderly folk, and I would use a tactile language called deaf/blind manual. So I would tap on their hand with my fingers to spell out the words and sentences. It's important that I point out that some people there had some hearing and were able to communicate verbally and had varying degrees of sight loss. I'm severely deaf but I'm able to communicate using speech and hearing aids. Not everyone is completely blind or completely deaf but still needed support. It was a great job and I made friends there. Unfortunately I had to move on as they lost a contract and thus my hours were cut.
Very cool!
@SethJStewart
what's really cool to me is deaf people talking cause like… that implies they can read lips somewhat and that's cool all on its own

How does she hit every camera angle when speaking, while blind?
Stevie Wonder had to trust confidants to fold his money in certain ways so he understood the denomination.

Imagine trying to communicate when you are both blind and deaf. There's a new sign language that's being developed for thr deaf blind folks
