  • Hah. You say that like it's a choice.

  • Serious question, if I can't communicate with you then how am I supposed to learn anything from you?

  • Buthow do you learn from a deaf person? Because I just really wanna learn sign language and also my neighbor is deaf so like I just really wanna son with him😊

  • I’m trying to learn ASL so I can talk to customers too. But I wanna learn the right way so new subbbb

  • hey, its just like learning any language, as you learn/use the language you make mistakes.
do deaf people have dialated pupils so they watch more intently?
    (you're super cute)

  • I learn from my friend she is deaf and slowly but surely learning more and more asl

  • Im trying to learn ASL, because my hearing isnt great (thats my fault, im listening to music WAY to loud with earbuds). Im not great. But i know the basics. Hopefully i can get fluent one day.

  • I want to learn basic sign language. So, how should I start?

  • Shes super cute i love her lol

  • HOW ARE YOU SPEAKING PERFECTLY OMG U ARE SO LUCKY❤

  • You know that’s just stupid that you think the girl LEARNED it wrong just because she learned it from a hearing person.
Have you ever TAUGHT sign language? Or any language?
    Tricky little thing that is.
No matter if a teacher is Deaf or hearing, the student can still get it wrong, or forget the proper way, or didn’t ever even do their homework, or due to lack of use they forgot the palm orientation or location, etc.
… and for the record Deaf people sign wrong all the time. No biggie, if it’s close enough that it can still be understood.
I’m a 20 year seasoned interpreter, and I see Deaf people sign wrong all the time and I have to just know what they meant and roll with it.
If I would have seen chocolate or vanilla signed like the girl did, I wouldn’t have batted an eye… I would have just voiced it straight up as she meant it and then incorporate the incorrect sign for the time being just to keep it consistent for them because tHeY aRe DeAf, iTs ThEiR lAnGuAgE, tHeY cAn NeVeR sIgN wRoNg… 😑

  • I started learning ASL in 4th grade. I learned from deaf people, books(we didn't have YouTube in the 80s), and always asked and learned from mistakes and being corrected. Deaf people will normally enjoy helping as long as you're willing and don't talk while signing.

  • So I guess you're saying that if we don't know a deaf person to learn from we shouldn't bother giving it a try. I think it would have been a lot nicer for you to understand that we took an interest to try to learn and just expand on that to say that possibly you need some corrections because she took the effort to try to learn.

  • im learning from my bestie who is deaf <3

  • You seemed to sign vanilla and chocolate, did she do it differently? You should show what she signed because to me it looked the same?

  • Attend the Healing School of Christ Embassy. You can register online. Many people who were born deaf have been healed and can now hear.

  • I’m a little confused because if like whenever you do like videos, how do you know videos they are like if you can’t hear how do you know what video it is like the song yeah

  • Definitely had a profoundly Deaf person teach me ASL and it was actually SEE. In college, had Deaf professors teach me ASL and I had to correct a lot of what I previously learned from someone that was Deaf.

Long story short, it's sweet that someone attempted to communicate. Wrong ASL can come from a lot of places – and if you want people to try, it may not come from the source you prefer.

Everyone should check their sources and double check of course. But can't "out" people for signing wrong when they probably learned a couple signs and are not trying to become a fluent speakers. It's nice they attempted….and anyone that knows ASL would likely be able to identify what they were communicating (esp in the context of a coffee shop) better than if they didn't sign at all.

  • What are the correct signs? I love your content btw!

  • Can you please do teaching videos? I really want to lean asl and I know you would teach the correct signs. ❤

  • I've been wanting to learn asl but cant find any lessons on yt or anything taught by a deaf person. do you know any??

  • I learned sign from two deaf coworkers I had. The sign language I use isn't true ASL but more like PSE (Pidgin Eigned English, signing in English syntax/word order but it's not exact. For example instead of "That's (that is) silly" I will sign "That silly".)

  • Its my curiosity, if you are deaf, then how do you know pronunciation of words? I'm without hearing it?

  • I learned from an ASL teacher who is hearing, so don’t learn from hearing people unless they’re a certified teacher

  • I've been learning ASL since age 10 from books, deaf people themselves and now the internet. I recently went to a class where the teacher (who was not born deaf, but became so as an adult) criticized and corrected everything I was doing and I lost so much confidence. She also made deaf people seem like a bunch of gatekeepers who didn't want outsiders invading their space.

A couple months later, I had the opportunity to spend a week in the company of a deaf couple who were both professors as Gallaudet University, BOTH of whom said I was a good signer. A good ASL teacher will be fluent but also encouraging to a student.

  • you don't NEED to learn from a deaf person. It's just a lot more reliable to learn from someone who consistently uses ASL regularly, like deaf people, mute/non verbal people, friends and family of said people, or others who uses ASL regularly for any other reason

  • I’ve seen some of your shorts before and am just now learning you’re deaf. When did you lose your hearing because your speaking is perfect! My brother who lost his hearing started talking with a bit of a deaf accent and he’s in his late teens.

  • You’re adorable. I promise you I don’t mean that in a condescending way. I just mean that your obvious intelligence is unique and your ability to speak so well without the advantage of having learned aurally makes you pretty fuckin impressive.

  • The only hearing people I listen to on signs are interpreters. My grandma has been an interpreter for over 40 years. She’s why I know some ASL (heavy emphasis on some she tried teaching me when I was little but not all of it stuck so I’m trying to learn again without her 😭)

  • hey! i love your videos and i am trying to learn asl. I know quite a lot of vocabulary but i am having trouble with sentence structure. i was wondering if you have any tips?

  • Wait if you're deaf , how are you talking😅😮

  • I really believe all schools should teach ASL I learned from my friends that r deaf that went to st Mary's for deaf n I learned more from them than in books and from someone who is hearing. I get confused when someone who is hearing is trying to sign to me but I tell them at least they try

  • I know a fair bit an older version of American sign bc of deaf older relatives in my family and idk off the top of my head and so when I communicate with them with said older version it's great but I'll try to use it mainly with customers at a job and I struggle with this bc ahhhhh. Plus I'm visually impaired so that makes it harder but I am fairly sure I'm not completely like wrong but only in the version I know. Idk if that makes sense lol

  • Many of the deaf or profound hearing impaired people i know or have met have had noticable difficulty with clear verbal speech from not being able to hear themselves ennunciate consonants. I would have never guessed she was hearing impaired if she hadn't said something.

Need to find myself someone to practice with locally 😅

  • Your honesty great at speaking, deaf people often have a hard time talking but your honesty great ❤

  • I learned from a interior who helps my boyfriend I am still learning but I can hold a con with him.

  • I love the sound your nails make then you talk 😭😭😭

  • I think you're too tuff on people. I have deaf friends that would have loved their family to know ASL.
Hearing losing my hearing. I learned what I know because it's fascinating to me. I may need it soon.
All your videos complain, you scare hearing.

  • I don’t like how you separated it into people who don’t know ASL and deaf people cause there is a lot of people who are not deaf. Who know ASL so if you’re saying you should only learn from a deaf person even if someone else who is not deaf, knows ASL that is a little weird and I don’t really like how you phrase that Like there is a difference between learning Chinese from someone who speaks Chinese and Chinese from someone who is Chinese.

  • I forgot deaf people can speak perfect english too

  • I'm confused because the workers' vanilla sign looks the same as your vanilla sign.
