Keep learning something new everyday for 15 years now. Profoundly Deaf female driver from Australia. I was born in South Africa and emigrating to New Zealand at 18. Living in Australia since I was 29. Now 43. Pulling the B double, Super Quad, Road Train and triple. I love my local work pulling the road train – 30 metres long, thereβs a dolly in the middle ! I reversed so millions slots at the wharf. Up to 117 tonnes are allowed for the local work. Not much room to navigate around. Take years to master your skills. Maybe driving a semi once in 7 years. I forgot how to reverse one trailer π 26,000 drivers shortage in Australia.
HOH driver here as well. I have a DOT physical coming up and I'm super worried about the forced whisper part of the physical. I do not have an Exemption and I had to go through a bunch of hoops and research on my own to find out I could just have a hearing exam done. It was a bit of a struggle because obviously hearing aids ring when you cover them, but I was able to adjust them to a point where they didn't. I am hoping this time around they will give me 2 years not one…! But honestly I want to start looking into getting an exemption just in case. I have been driving for about 9 months now and everything has been great and everything comes pretty naturally for me I would like to continue driving for years to come so just looking at a bit of inpiration, thank you for the video and good luck out ther brother stay safe.
