The Whataburger was packed. I was exhausted and hungry when I noticed the line wasn’t moving. That’s when I saw the cashier — a young man who quietly signed, “I’m deaf. Can you speak slower?” The couple smiled, slowed down, and wrote out their order without hesitation. One by one, each customer did the same — no one complained, no one rushed him. In a world that can be cruel, that moment of patience and kindness felt like a miracle.
