We Sent Our Hearing Daughter To A Deaf School

We Sent Our Hearing Daughter To A Deaf School

As you know we have both a typical hearing daughter and a profoundly Deaf son who wears bilateral cochlear implants. The first few years of Neo’s life when we learned he has severe to profound hearing loss were heavily focused on early intervention and finding ways to help Neo thrive despite his profound hearing loss diagnosis. While we were able to Homeschool Abella so we could continue to spend time together as a family, we always felt a sense of separation within our family when it came to our kid’s education. We wanted to find a school were Abella would be around other families like ours, who have both typical hearing kids and Deaf/HOH kids with cochlear implants/hearing aids. This had been the best decision we have made as a family, as they are attending one of the best listening and spoken language programs in the country. Abella has adjusted so well to the new school and she feels so happy to finally be able to go to school together with her baby brother Neo.
