I pretended to be deaf just to see what people really thought of me and it destroyed my family.

Wow, that sounds intense! š³ I canāt believe you went to such lengths to see how people really felt about you. Itās heartbreaking to hear it affected your family so deeply. What led you to make that choice, and how did it all unfold? Iām really curious to hear your story!
@EchoesofStories111
Thatās a heartbreaking situation! š¢ I canāt imagine the impact it had on your family. Itās so interesting how we sometimes want to test perceptions, but it can backfire in unexpected ways. What did you learn from that experience? Have you been able to rebuild those relationships?
@ThreadExplorers222
I am so disappointed about all these stories with bad sibling relationships š
@jessioldaker9169

As wrong as the OP's decision to pretend continuing being deaf, the truth about how her own family and so called best friend while pretending was a lot worse in more ways than one but for her own sake apart from walking away from her family she did the same thing to her now ex best friend as well and never look back for any reason whatsoever indeed.

Why do all these stories involve the golden child going to Stanford/med school and then dropping out because of pressure

I heard this story on another page. I love these stories.
@morganfern29
Not to be that person but if every single person in your life thinks you're pathetic and a lost cause then you definitely have some very serious introspection and self improvement to do
@mimii-l7l
I have hearing loss, the things you read when people assume hearing loss means you can't understand basic language when you learned to read it 20yrs ago!

If everyone in your life hates you …and you are a deceitful manipulator … they were right.

Fake
@ElnBraho-l6s
I miss when people wrote fake stories correctly. There are so many errors. It was Emma's graduation (and Emma was the older sister) yet op had a cheap bracelet as a graduation gift? Op was deaf for 2 weeks because of an infection and her parents, despite knowing this, never questioned why her hearing never came back? They just went along with if? Totally unbelievable.
@Maria-wi1pj
If that many people had the same opinion maybe you were the problem. Shool counselors?
@denisetenny4529
Iām autistic complicated by adhd and had a teacher tell me I wasnāt going to make it and I proved them wrong. I graduated from high school at a 3.0 and a semester early.
