We watched this in my ASL class, and god is it such an amazing movie. The fact they actually hired Deaf actors and taught real sign language instead of SEE made me so happy.

I want to preface this with the fact that Iāve never seen this movie lmao just a bunch of clips on here, BUTā¦ from what Iāve seen, her mother fucking sucks dude. It seems like her dad genuinely loves her and at least realizes that expecting as much as they do from her and have BEEN for her entire life is definitely not cool. Her mom seems like she really doesnāt give a shit about what the girl has going on in her own life, or whatās important to her if it conflicts in anyway with what she wants. I saw another clip where the girl had already talked them about how she couldnāt be late anymore, and then the mom just acts like itās completely normal that nobody even fucking mentioned the news people coming for an interview to her; and she was just expected to interpret for that no matter what and she didnāt care at all about messing up what the daughter loves. Obviously like I said before, I COULD be wrong and this is just what Iāve gathered from the shitload of clips Iāve seen š but Jesus man. I also love how the dad said āshe was never a babyā because he actually recognizes how much has been expected of her for her ENTIRE life and the mother acts like itās not a big deal at all. Also, I really donāt think the mother gives a shit at all about āour babyā being gone l o l pretty sure she cares because she wonāt be around the take care of them constantly anymore. Itās just fucked up
