JPay and Ryan Shapiro are Robbing America

JPay is a monopoly that’s robbing innocent Americans of money — making the families of inmates pay money to send money, and then use the money sent to spend money on their products.
What’s worse, however, is the nefarious path JPay took to get where they are, as when Ryan Shapiro started the company after he graduated from the University of Colorado, they had little success. See what they did to gain success.

As someone who has done time, I can tell you straight up that Jpay's services are an absolute godsend. Their services make things better for everyone; from inmates and their families, all the way to prison staff. It was introduced during the 2nd year of my 6 year stretch. You were not eligible to purchase one unless you had gone one full calendar year without a disciplinary infraction. Everybody wanted one and immediately started behaving better. Once you got one, disciplinary infractions would result in the loss of your tablet for varying amounts of time depending severity, and nobody wanted to lose their tablet. That place went from hostile to fairly peaceful as soon as they implemented the program.

Everyone pays ATM fees. For usage and withdrawals.
Like Jay, you don't have to use it. Go stand in line at a bank.
Report some real crimes.
@freeflyer1
First, they shouldn't be breaking the laws. Second, they don't have to enroll in JPay.
Third, they AGREE to the costs, then whine.
@freeflyer1
Lmfao. This is more convenient for you!!!! Because there are no other options!!!!
@bryanbane9626
I paid 148.00 for the 7 inch and now I'm home I cant even use the mother fucker
@camerongeiger7759
Then DONT USE IT! Obviously people don't mind the fees to make their time better!
@Hopeful4-all
Jay pay is a company that steals your bank account numbers and cleans you out .
@skysummers5773
You have to pay for convenience sometimes. I would rather pay a small fee for an incarcerated person to receive funds almost immediately rather then mail a check or money order that will take time to get to the facility and who knows how long to process it.

This stealing from inmates is still going on today,. My Fiance fell victim to "someone" fraudulently transferring 999.99 from his inmate account to his Jpay media account. Now that he us released and no longer in the system, he is unable to get his money back. Any suggestions as to how we can get this money back to him or who we can speak with would be greatly appreciated. We have tried everything and have been told he would receive a check in the mail in 3 days and that was a week ago. Help!!!!
@bonitamoye985
…and, depending on which prison system you are in, the fees could be lower or higher. It is what JPay has to give the particular prison system. So you are getting your money stolen by the DOC and JPay….but hey, it's the government doing the theft so it is okay, right?
@RonKris
These people are crooks and are capitalizing off the family’s sympathy for their loved one(s) (the inmates). Most of these services provided aren’t NEEDED anyway. They’re provided the necessities (food, shelter, clothing, basic hygiene products) by tax dollars. They lost PRIVILEGES (luxuries outside of basic needs) when they committed a crime. Now if the prisons aren’t providing basic needs, YES that’s a definite issue that should be addressed. All these companies like JPay and the phone companies providing services are money hungry machines. Prison is a business now, not a rehabilitation facility sadly. The solution to this is for people to stop doing dumb shit to get themselves put in prison and their families get a backbone and stop purchasing luxuries for them that they knew would be forfeited once they committed the crime. This isn’t mean or harsh. It’s LIFE. For every action, there is a consequence/response (good or otherwise) in direct proportion to what you do. Do I think humans outside of the situation should be the deciders of that consequence? No. However, this is the society we live in due to people voting others in office to lord over them because you can’t discipline yourselves, so this is what we get.

@bblazeff1
Just like ticketmaster.
@525Lines
Just write them a letter and mail the money orders as you would have done before this was an option. Buy a book of stamps!
@Mrs.PeeWeezy74
This shit is highway robbery. How the fuck do you charge for a stamp on e-mail?
@arja2317
Some are willing to pay the cost for comfort down here. But don't miss Heaven. The cost will be TOO GREAT TO PAY! JESUS already paid it.
St John 3:16!💗
@SOULRELIEF22
Kind of a vapid video. You also don't HAVE to use Jpay to send money. You can circumvent all these services. You can use Western Union, Moneygram, or even a money order. A $1000 money order from the postal service costs $1.60. Jpay charges fees for convenience and speed.
Furthermore, the inmates don't HAVE to buy Jpay's goods and services.
Plus I don't know where to begin with that all text coda at the end. It's just… assertions. With no reference or documentation to back them up. You can say anything you want and a sympathetic audience will quickly believe you.
@Thrifty032781
And they only take credit card cash advances as payment so you pay interest on all of it too.
@Mrs.D-WarriorWoman
Here's an idea. If you don't want to get charged to put funds on an inmate's account, or have to pay for different services…stay out of prison. Get a job and stop committing crimes.
@rbbrown2106
Dept. of JUSTICE is currently investigating them as well as the United States Post Office and the Attorney Generals office/Federal. Hopefully something will be done soon to relieve all of JPays Scamming and ripping off families and friends of inmates. He is the MASTER of THIEVES..
@sksdesignsselene
Why doesn't the F.T.C. go after JPay? It's clearly a monopoly.
